How to save an Instagram video
Open the post, tap the three dots, choose Copy link, and paste it in the box above. Feed videos, reels and the older IGTV posts all work, and so does a link copied from a browser address bar.
What comes back is the file Instagram is already serving. We look up its address and hand it to your browser.
What this cannot do, said plainly
Carousels are the honest limit. A post with ten photos exposes the first image without a login and nothing beyond it, so that is what you get and the tool labels it as such. If a page tells you it will save all ten slides, it is either logged in as somebody or it is guessing.
Stories are a harder no. They are visible only to logged-in accounts, and for private profiles only to approved followers, so a story downloader means running somebody’s Instagram session against Instagram’s terms. We do not do that, which is why we have no story tool rather than a broken one.
Private accounts publish nothing publicly at all. There is no technique involved in reading them, only a login, and no downloader has a good reason to ask you for yours.
About quality
You get what Instagram serves, which is already their compression of what the creator uploaded. The original file was never published, so no tool can produce it, and anything advertising an HD or 4K upgrade is upscaling pixels that do not exist.

Most free downloaders pull the file onto their own servers first. That gives them a copy of whatever you downloaded and costs them bandwidth every time, which is usually why those pages are wrapped in adverts.
Your browser fetches this one from Instagram directly. Verified rather than asserted: the address our server returns downloads on an unrelated machine with no session at all.
