How to turn a TikTok into an MP4
In TikTok, tap the share arrow on the video and choose Copy link. Paste it in the box above and pick one of the files it finds. Each one is a normal .mp4, so it lands in your Downloads folder or camera roll ready to play, edit or send.
Both kinds of link work: the short vm.tiktok.com one from the share sheet and a full www.tiktok.com address copied from a browser.
Why there is no conversion step
Most “converter” sites make you wait while a progress bar fills, which suggests something is being transformed. For TikTok nothing needs to be. Every video on the platform is already stored as an MP4 using H.264, the same codec your phone records in. The job is finding the file, not changing it.
That matters for quality. A real conversion re-encodes the video and loses a little detail every time it happens. Handing you TikTok’s own file skips that entirely, which is why there is no quality slider here: the best available version is the one TikTok already has.
Which file to pick
TikTok keeps more than one encode of most videos, and the labels do not always mean what they suggest. The one marked HD is sometimes the smaller file. So the tool lists the size next to each option. For editing, take the largest. For sending to someone over a messaging app, the smaller one saves data and looks the same on a phone screen.
Want the clip without the bouncing TikTok logo? Pick the no-watermark option. Resharing someone else’s video? Take the watermarked one, because it keeps their name on it.
Using the MP4 in an editor
The file imports straight into CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve and iMovie. Two things are worth knowing. The frame is vertical, 9:16, so set your project to match or the editor will letterbox it. And the file is already compressed for TikTok, so if you made the video yourself, edit from your original export where you still have it and keep this copy as a reference.
Only the sound?
