TikTok Fake Follower Checker
See whether an account's engagement matches its follower count — and read honestly what that can and can't tell you.
Public profiles only · no login · the first lookup can take up to a minute
What this measures — and what it doesn’t
It compares average likes per video against the follower count. That is a proportionality check, not follower inspection. It does not look at individual followers, because doing that properly means loading the follower list one profile at a time — hundreds of lookups per account, and still inference at the end.
We are saying that plainly because most tools in this category do not. A percentage presented as “12% fake followers” sounds like a measurement and almost never is. The number below is arithmetic on public data, and the interpretation is yours.
Low engagement has several explanations
Bought followers are one. They are not the most common. In rough order of frequency:
- One video reached far beyond the usual audience. Thousands of people followed for that single piece of content and never engaged again. They sit in the denominator permanently.
- The audience is old. Followers gathered over years, many now inactive or using the app differently.
- The content changed. An account that pivoted keeps the followers it earned for the old topic, who do not watch the new one.
- Purchased or bot followers. Real, and worth considering — but the ratio alone cannot distinguish it from the three above.
Using it to vet someone
If you are checking an influencer before paying them, this is a reasonable first filter: a large account with unusually low engagement is worth a question. Treat it as a question, though. Ask them why — the explanation is often ordinary and easily evidenced with their own analytics, which show reach and audience quality that no external tool can see.
A high ratio is also not proof of authenticity. Engagement can be purchased as easily as followers, and an account doing both looks entirely normal from outside.
Why there’s no Instagram version
Instagram publishes no aggregate like total on a profile, so this calculation is impossible there from public data alone. TikTok does publish one, which is the only reason this page can work without paying to read every post.
Any Instagram “fake follower checker” that returns a result instantly is either sampling a handful of followers or estimating from something even thinner.
If it’s your own account
A low ratio is a signal about reach and content fit rather than a verdict on your audience. The engagement rate calculator shows the same figure without the authenticity framing, and our free growth plan turns it into a recommendation.
When the gap is engagement rather than reach, TikTok likes bring posts back into proportion with the audience — or try 10 free likes first.
A missing avatar is one of the cheaper bot signals to check by eye, and it is the one a ratio will never show you. The TikTok profile picture downloader returns TikTok’s default grey image when an account has never set a picture, which on a handle ending in random digits usually settles the question.
