Instagram Unfollowers Checker
See who unfollowed you and who does not follow you back, without handing any app your password. It reads the follower list Instagram already gives you, right here in your browser.
The .zip Instagram sends you, or followers_1.json and following.json from inside it.
Add one from a few weeks ago to see exactly who unfollowed you since.
Read in your browser only. Nothing is uploaded, and we never ask for your Instagram password.
Step 1: download your followers from Instagram
- In the Instagram app, open your profile, tap the menu and go to Accounts Center.
- Choose Your information and permissions, then Download your information.
- Pick Download or transfer information, select your Instagram account, then Some of your information.
- Tick only Followers and following, then choose Download to device.
- Set the date range to All time and the format to JSON, then Create files.
Instagram emails you when the file is ready, usually within minutes for a followers-only export. Download the .zip and drop it in the box above. You do not need to unzip it.
Step 2: see who does not follow you back
With one export, the checker compares the people you follow with the people who follow you. Anyone in the first list and missing from the second is shown under Don’t follow you back, each with a link to their profile so you can decide what to do about it.
Step 3: see exactly who unfollowed you
Instagram never tells you when someone leaves, and no file records it either. What you can do is compare two snapshots. Keep the export you downloaded today, request another in a week or a month, and add the old one in the second box. The checker lists everyone who followed you then and does not now, plus everyone new.
A name on the unfollowed list is not always a deliberate unfollow. Accounts that are deactivated, deleted or that block you drop out of your followers too, and a username change shows up as one person leaving and a new one arriving.
Why this asks for a file and not your password
Most unfollower apps want you to log in. That means giving a stranger your password, and the app then behaves like a bot on your account, which is exactly what Instagram’s security systems look for. Accounts get locked, restricted or stolen that way.
The export route takes a couple of minutes longer and carries none of that risk. The file is read on your own phone or computer, so your follower list never reaches our servers, and there is nothing for us to store.
Seeing unfollows after a growth push?
Some drop-off after any jump in followers is normal, organic or not. The useful number is how many stay. If you are measuring an account’s real audience, the engagement rate calculator shows whether followers are actually engaging, and the Instagram follower counter checks any public account’s numbers. If you want to grow, you can try free Instagram likes on a post first.
