Facebook has no font setting, so how does this work?
Facebook shows every post in its own typeface, and you cannot change it. What you have seen in bold or cursive in other peopleโs posts is not a font at all. Unicode, the standard that defines every character a computer can display, includes alphabets that happen to look styled: mathematical bold and italic, script letters, small capitals, circled letters. Swapping your ordinary letters for those characters makes text that looks formatted but is still plain text.
That is why it survives copy and paste. Type above, pick a style, copy it and paste it into Facebook like any other text.
Where it works, and the one place it usually does not
Posts, comments, replies, your profile Intro, Page posts, group posts and Messenger all accept these characters. Your profile name is different. Facebookโs name rules do not allow symbols or unusual characters, and a name made of styled letters falls squarely under that, so the change is likely to be refused. Pages have their own naming rules too. Keep names plain and put the styling where people read.
Use it for emphasis, not for everything
Most places you write on Facebook have no bold or italic button, so styled text is a handy way to make one line stand out: a heading in a long post, a date in an event announcement, a single word you want read first. Used that way it works well.
Whole posts in a fancy style are harder to read, and they create two real problems. Screen readers may read the characters as their technical names or skip them, leaving the post unreadable to someone who relies on one. And because the characters are different from ordinary letters, styled words do not match what people type into search. A bold heading is fine; a bold paragraph costs you readers.

The same generator is written up for other platforms as the Instagram font generator and the TikTok font generator, each covering that appโs own rules. For symbols and dividers to go alongside, see bio symbols, which paste into Facebook just as well.
Once the post looks right
Formatting helps a post get read once someone sees it. If you want more people to see it, our Facebook services cover the basics, from post likes to Facebook followers.
