How to use them
Type the shortcode with its square brackets into a comment or caption and post it. TikTok replaces the text with its own emoji at the moment the comment publishes — so while you are still typing you will see [wronged] rather than the face. That is the single most common reason people think the codes are broken.
Why a code sometimes does nothing
The spellings are unforgiving and several of the obvious guesses are wrong. It is [shock], not [shocked]; [nap], not [sleep]; [blink], not [wink]; and [loveface], not [love]. All 46 codes on this page were cross-checked against seven independent lists before publishing.
TikTok has never published this list
There is no official TikTok article, no in-app picker and no developer documentation for these codes. Every list that exists — this one included — was assembled by people testing codes in the app, which is why spellings occasionally disagree between sites and why the set has changed before without any announcement. If a code here stops working, TikTok changed it rather than you mistyping it.
These are not regular emoji
TikTok drew these itself and they exist only inside TikTok. Standard emoji come from Unicode and work in any app, which is why a TikTok emoji pasted into a message elsewhere arrives as plain text. It is also why this page lists codes in words rather than reproducing TikTok’s artwork.
