Instagram Hashtag Generator

Enter your niche and get a balanced hashtag set — broad tags for volume, niche tags where a smaller post can actually rank.

Instagram allows up to 30. Most accounts do better with 15–25 relevant tags than with the maximum.

Why the mix matters more than the count

The instinct is to use the biggest hashtags available, and it is the reason most hashtag strategies fail. A tag with fifty million posts is a tag where your post is buried in seconds; you are technically present and functionally invisible.

This generator returns a mix on purpose. The broad tags give you a chance at volume, the mid-sized ones carry genuine relevance, and the niche ones are where a small account can realistically appear near the top and stay there long enough to be seen. A set weighted toward the smaller end usually outperforms one weighted toward the largest.

How many hashtags should you use on Instagram

Instagram permits thirty. Most accounts do better somewhere between fifteen and twenty-five, and the reason is relevance rather than any penalty — once you are past your genuinely related tags, you are adding tags that describe somebody else’s content and attracting an audience with no reason to stay.

It is also worth being realistic about what hashtags now do. They are a secondary discovery route on Instagram rather than the primary one; Reels and the recommendation system move far more reach. Hashtags help the system categorise you and give niche communities a way to find you, which is genuinely useful and considerably less dramatic than the advice usually suggests.

If discovery is the actual problem, hashtags are a small lever and the Reels surface is a large one.

Hashtags put a post in front of people who do not follow you yet. What those people do next — watch it through, save it for later — is what Instagram actually pays attention to. Our Instagram Reels views and Instagram saves work on those signals.
