Best Time to Post on Instagram, TikTok & Threads

See when your audience is actually awake and scrolling. Windows for Instagram, TikTok and Threads, adjusted for who you are posting to.

All times are in your audience's local time, not yours.

Weekdays

11:00–13:00 · 19:00–21:00

Weekends

10:00–12:00

Midday and the post-dinner scroll are the two reliable windows.

Starting points based on general platform patterns. Your own analytics beat any general guide — check when your existing posts actually performed.

How to use these windows

These are starting points drawn from general platform patterns, split by audience type because a student audience and an audience of office workers are awake at genuinely different hours. Pick your platform, pick the group that best describes your followers, and treat the result as a hypothesis to test rather than a rule.

One thing worth stressing: the times are in your audience’s local time, not yours. If most of your followers are five hours behind you, posting at your own peak hour lands in their early morning. Creators in Australia and Pakistan run into this constantly, and it is the single most common reason a well-made post underperforms.

Why the platform changes the answer

The three platforms behave differently enough that one universal answer is meaningless across them. TikTok keeps recirculating a video for days, so timing matters least there — a strong video published at an awkward hour will still find its audience. Instagram sits in the middle: the first hours shape distribution, but Reels keep resurfacing afterwards.

Threads is the strictest of the three. Text has a short life, it does not get resurfaced the way video does, and a post published outside your audience’s active hours is largely finished. That is why the Threads windows here cluster around the working day rather than the evening — text does better when people are at a desk than when they are half-watching television.

Once you know your window, the other half of the job is making sure the post has something under it when people arrive. Early engagement shapes what every later visitor sees.

Timing decides how many people are awake to see something. It has no bearing on what they think when they do — a post published at the perfect hour to an empty room still looks like an empty room. Our Instagram likes and TikTok views address the other half of that.
